| A hybrid between Red and Silver
Maple, combining the best features of both parents; the drought
tolerance of Silver Maple and the fall color of Red Maple. Though not as
refined as Red Maple, its branch habit is an improvement over that of
Silver Maple. |

Autumn Flame® is the first Red
Maple to color in the fall and one of the hardiest. It reliably produces
a brilliant red, although its color doesn't hold as long as Red Sunset®,
which colors about a week later. Slower growing with smaller leaves than
most, Autumn Flame® produces a very symmetrical, rounded crown. |

| Emerald Queen™ is probably the most widely used Norway Maple cultivar. In many respects it is the best green leafed selection. It forms a well shaped oval tree with good environmental tolerance and reliable yellow fall color. |

upright, while older ones of the same cultivar may become spreading.
"Mature" size of a tree varies by climate, landscape site
characteristics and how long the tree lives. City trees rarely
reach the size and age of their counterparts in native forest stands.
In a city situation, few trees live more than thirty years, and those
that do generally grow slowly beyond that age. Therefore, the size
ratings and growth habits shown in this document are our best estimates
for a healthy thirty year old tree grown under average city conditions. |
